Holiness to the Lord

October 14, 2020

Hola hola! I hope this week has treated you all well :)

This week was filled with lots of happy, happy experiences. First, I was able to spend a few days with my grandparents and great grandma out in Erda! I loved being able to soak up the extra family time and learn from each of them. When I wasn't in my MTC classes, we ate lots of yummy food (Grandma is trying to fatten me up before I leave😂), played with kittens, discussed the gospel, and goofed off as families do! ;)

One funny experience will give you a good laugh. I was up at about 6 to workout and quietly made my way into the basement to use some weights. I only had the light of my phone guiding me so it was a little eerie for sure. Well, as soon as I went to grab some equipment from the storage room I heard a voice from the darkness say, "Goodmorning Abby". I was TERRIFIED and fell to the ground. I turned around and saw my cousin Cody who had been sleeping on the bed in the corner where my dim light did not illuminate. Let's just say I did NOT know he had slept over as well and it was too early for me to connect the dots hahah. It gave us both a good laugh, and I mean it definitely got my heart racing!

Spanish classes have pushed and pulled my brain in every which way this week and I commend anyone who learns another language. It is hard stuff! My teachers, district, and companion make it fun so I definitely can't complain. Let's just say it will take me a decent while to figure out how to sound ~natural~ with my Spanish, but I am diligently working everyday!

The pinnacle of my "happy experiences" this week though was definitely being able to go through the temple to receive my endowment! WOW I can say nothing but good, joyful things about it. I was so lucky to have my family and some of our closest friends there with me as I learned more about God's plan and perfect love for each of us.

The wonderful thing about the temple is that there is so much unity and personal divine revelation! What a unique experience it was to have only our little group in the temple as well. I felt edified and joyful that Heavenly Father allowed me to experience the blessings of the temple before I left for the field.

One distinct impression that I had while in the temple was that Heavenly Father loves me and knows me personally. I know and testify that this extends to each of you as well.

2 Nephi 31:19 And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.

I know that I would not be where I am today if it weren't for Christ's sacrifice and His doctrine. I cannot wait to get out to the field to teach and share the JOY this gospel brings me with everyone I meet!

Have a wonderful week <3

Con amor,

Hermana Smith :)

How often can you say that you went to the temple on your mission with your best friend who is also a missionary?!
