Trilingual ??? 🐨🎄

Image
November 10, 2020 Hola a todos !! My subject line may be a bit deceiving because I am in no way trilingual, BUT I will hopefully be by the end of this year and a half ;)  1. Obviously I'm teaching in  english  and LOVING being able to express myself to the people I meet. It's nice to understand what is being said.  2. I got to go on exchanges with our STLs and teach in 2  spanish  lessons! It was literally so so much fun. I pulled on my ~extensive~ vocab (hahah just kidding). No but really I was able to understand and say more than I thought I would.  3. We met the  ASL  elders at a service activity and they freaked out when they learned I signed. They invited us to come teach a household with like 6 deaf people this weekend because they said it's really hard with just them. I'm so so excited to sign again! SO that is three languages in one week!! I know that the gospel has no language barrier and I'm so humbled to be able to share in multipl...

Sunny San Diego ☀️

November 3, 2020 Hola everyone! The rumors are true and I have arrived in the BEAUTIFUL land of San Diego! I say land because this city goes on in  every direction and every corner fills my mind with new culture, people, and nature.  Picture this: You're on your morning run around mission bay and the sun is rising over the palm trees casting a pretty pink hue over  everything. THEN you see dolphins surfacing in the water ???  Yeah WHAT!! So beautiful. The Lord really has created so much beauty in all of the world around us.  On the topic of nature (you know me, I love my plants and animals), here is some of the highlights from that  this week: 1. Palm trees and pine trees growing side by side. So odd.  1.5 The plants in general are so different and interesting. Succulent bushes, trees and foliage that bloom year round,  and cactuses as big as trees! 2. Dogs EVERYWHERE. I have seen some of the cutest, fluffiest, biggest/littlest dogs of my life out...

0.03% of My Mission in Texas

Image
October 22, 2020 Let me just start off by saying, us folks with last names starting with letters at the end of the alphabet always get the short end of the stick  I got my flight plans for next week (yes next week WHAT) and I fly from SLC to Dallas, Texas. Kind of odd you may say, "Aren't you going to California?" Yes, yes I am. BUT it gets better haha I have a 4 HOUR layover in Texas before I fly 3 more hours back to Cali. SO I've got a 12 hour travel day with my fellow missionaries at the end of the alphabet while the missionaries like *Anderson *Christensen *etc. have a direct flight riiiiight to San Diego. It's OK though, now I can say I will have served 0.03% of my mission in Texas ;) Apart from that fun adventure I get to take on next week, how are you all doing?! It's almost Halloween and I am so excited for the holiday season! This past week has been a blur of finishing up MTC, beginning to pack, and doing some last minute gathering!  This Saturday I h...

Holiness to the Lord

October 14, 2020 Hola hola! I hope this week has treated you all well :) This week was filled with lots of happy, happy experiences. First, I was able to spend a few days with my grandparents and great grandma out in Erda! I loved being able to soak up the extra family time and learn from each of them. When I wasn't in my MTC classes, we ate lots of yummy food (Grandma is trying to fatten me up before I leave ), played with kittens, discussed the gospel, and goofed off as families do! ;)  One funny experience will give you a good laugh. I was up at about 6 to workout and quietly made my way into the basement to use some weights. I only had the light of my phone guiding me so it was a little eerie for sure. Well, as soon as I went to grab some equipment from the storage room I heard a voice from the darkness say, "Goodmorning Abby". I was TERRIFIED and fell to the ground. I turned around and saw my cousin Cody who had been sleeping on the bed in the corner where my dim lig...
